These next few months are going to be quite interesting. If don't know by now, I'm moving from NR92 to a station on a resort island that is consistantly ranked in the top 10 beaches in the world and the only asian beach to remain in top ten for that long according to Yahoo Travel. The island is called Boracay, population 12,000, and it's one of the thousands of islands that make up the Philippines. Probably over half of the population of Boracay consists Americans, Italians, Germans, Swiss, backpackers, hippies, WWII vets, probably the odd American Civil war vet as well (but not likely from the south and not likely alive). The station I'm going to is called Radio Boracay. It's not a big station, but it's on a resort island and there ain't nothin' wrong with that. For those of you still intestested in following Flipside, I'm pushing to see if I can move it to Radio Boracay... but I'm sure it won't happen, but who knows, maybe Flipside will live on. Keep on listening, I'll be posting regularly.
Last week the NDP, Liberals, and Bloc all got together to overthrow the Conservatives. I had no idea as to what exactly was going on. Today I finally got the answer. Will Molls of Ryerson over in Ontario created a well-written explanation as to how our electoral system works and what exactly is happening. Ignore that fact that he's NDP. If you're confused as much as I was about this whole situation, read Molls' analysis.http://www.rundp.org/
Today I didn't go to school because I didn't have much to do at school today so I skipped. I'm sitting at home making lunch and all of a sudden I see a group of people congregating on the street (the same street that is south of A&W on Whyte).I took a look at what they were picketing for, and this is what the sign said, "Canadians against Coalition"Are you f'n kidding me? As far as I see it, the small group of conservative supporters in my NDP riding are getting together to chant 'Go Harper Go'? I wondered to myself what kind of people would go to this random rally on one of the deadest streets in the city. Then I figured it out, these were the people that drove their Ford F-350s out to take up literally half the road and scream about how much they love how things are going with the conservatives. I really don't care either way if this coalition government goes in or not, I think the Dion and Harper are both unfit to run our nation. I guess it just goes to show you how smart these people are by gathering in a place where no one will see them. This will be one of my top 10 reasons why I am moving out of Canada in 6 weeks...
